NYSE: MAR) announced that it expects to open its first hotel in China by the end of the year and expects the pipeline of signed and approved contracts to now include a total of 143 additional properties. With 127 open and signed hotels in Chinese, the company expects to grow to at least 265 hotels, which will open an average of one hotel per month in the country over the next five years.

In China, Marriott is currently active in 11 provinces and expects to have an additional 13 provinces and regions in 2016, including 32 other Chinese cities representing more than 1,000 hotel rooms in the country. Marriott International expects an average of 1.5 million guests per hotel in China by 2016 and 1 million visitors per month in 2017.

The Chengdu Garden City Hotel is the first Marriott hotel in Chengdu, the capital of the People's Republic of China. Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan and Guangxi, as well as Hainan, Hebei and Jiangxi provinces.
